Terms and conditions of use

Tickets will be issued to the user making the purchase and can only be displayed/used on the device on which it was purchased. Tickets must be used by the individual or group (in the case of group tickets) that made the purchase and must not be shared with others. It is not permitted to copy, print, change or forward tickets purchased in Midttrafik app.

Transit tickets must be purchased on the users own account, as the account holder's name is automatically applied on the season pass.

Transit tickets can only be used on one device at a time. You can change device once a day.

Tickets must be purchased and received before boarding. If you board a bus, Letbanen or Midtjyske Jernbaner before receiving your ticket, you will be travelling without a valid ticket.

Single tickets and multi trip tickets can only be used in Midttrafik buses, Letbanen and Midtjyske Jernbaner.

There are two sets of rules with respect to the valid time period:

For journeys within Aarhus municipality:
The valid time period is 2 hours and 15 minutes (2 hours as for a normal ticket plus 15 minutes because tickets from Midttrafik app must be purchased before boarding.) You must have completed your journey before the end of the valid time period. For example, if your ticket expires at 10:00, you must get off by 10:00 at the latest.

Additional ticket: Please note that an additional ticket for travels within Aarhus municipality only expands the validity of zones and not time because the time validity is permanent.

For other journeys:
The valid time period depends on the number of zones:
2 zones: 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes)
3 zones: 90 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes)
4 zones: 105 minutes (1 hour and 45 minutes)
5 zones: 120 minutes (2 hours)
6 zones: 130 minutes (2 hours and 10 minutes)

Thereafter, the valid time period increases by 10 minutes with each additional zone.

The last stage of your journey must begin within the valid time period. For example, if the valid time period ends at 10:00, you must have boarded by 10:00 at the latest. The ticket will show you the latest time you can board.

Midttrafik app will calculate the valid time period.

Additional ticket: Please note that an additional ticket to other travels expands the time validity according to the number of zones. See the table above. If you have used a charge on a two zones multi trip ticket and travel three zones, an additional ticket will provide you with a time validity of 1 hour and 30 minutes – even though the ticket is visible in two hours.

You cannot increase the valid time period by using more charges on your multi trip ticket.

You must be able to show your ticket to the driver or at any ticket control. You are responsible for making sure your device is charged and that the screen is readable. If you are unable to present a ticket, you risk paying an inspection fee.

When you create an account, you can choose whether to pay using a card or with MobilePay.

If you choose to add a card to your account, payment for your ticket purchases will be taken automatically as soon as the ticket is issued to your device. Midttrafik app accepts payment by Dankort, Visa/Dankort, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Visa Electron and American Express.

Midttrafik uses DIBS Payment Services to ensure your payment is secure and certified by NETS.

If you choose to pay using MobilePay, you must have an account and have the app installed on your device.

You will receive an e-mail as a receipt for your purchase. The receipt cannot be used as a ticket.

You can register to receive a reminder when your transit ticket is about to expire. You can register/deregister from this service under ‘My account’ in the Midttrafik app at any time.

Three days and one day before your transit ticket expires, you will receive a notification reminding you to renew your ticket.
The reminder is an extra service only – it is always your responsibility to renew your ticket, even if you may not receive a reminder. Midttrafik accepts no liability whatsoever should you for technical reasons not receive a reminder.

If Midttrafik app stops working due to system failure, service failure or similar, Midttrafik will inform the drivers.

If there are problems paying with MobilePay and/or card, you can try to change the payment method. If this is not possible, you must purchase a ticket using another method. You can change the payment method under Settings.

Customers using the app will not have to present a ticket under such circumstances.

We do not offer refunds on single tickets, multi trip tickets and special tickets. Season passes can be cancelled and refunded according to the current regulations.

If you want your season pass refunded, you can contact Midttrafik customer service 

You must choose a password when creating an account for Midttrafik app. You enter the password when you log into the app. We recommend that you log out after each use. This avoids misuse in the event of you losing your device.

The password must contain at least four characters. If you forget your password, you can enter your mobile number and click on send. You will then receive an e-mail containing a temporary password valid for 12 hours.

There are no fees for purchasing tickets in Midttrafik app.
