Refunds and compensation
Midttrafik does not refund unused or partially used single trip tickets.
No compensation is paid for single trip tickets.
Rules for refunds
Commuters wanting to have their transit tickets refunded before they expire should note that a fee is charged, corresponding to the price for eight days of travel. If, for example, you want to have a transit ticket refunded which has 15 days left on it, you will be refunded the price for 15 days minus 8 days = 7 days.
If you ask to have your transit ticket refunded before its first day of validity, the price is refunded in full.
For refunds of transit tickets purchased using the Midttrafik app, please contact Midttrafik in writing.
‘Rejsekort Commuter pass’ and ‘Rejsekort with commuter area’ are refunded via rejsekort.dk.
Refund of transit tickets due to long-term service interruptions
In the event of long-term service interruptions, your transit ticket can be refunded as follows:
- The service interruptions have to last at least seven consecutive days.
- Your transit ticket must be valid for at least seven of the days affected by service interruptions.
- Any refunds will be based on the number of days affected by service interruptions.
- Any refunds will be based on the number of routes affected by service interruptions.
- Your claim for a refund must amount to min. 25% of the price of the cheapest transit ticket for adults.
- The claim can only be submitted once the transit ticket has expired. It must be submitted in writing within six months of the transit ticket’s expiry date.
In special cases, Midttrafik can set out specific rules for refunds.
Rules for refunds
The full-time Pensionistkort (senior card) (DKK 365/year) which is valid in the municipalities of Herning, Randers, Struer and Holstebro is not refundable.
Part-time Pensionistkort (senior cards) in other municipalities are refunded by Midttrafik.
If you want to obtain a refund for a Pensionistkort (senior card) before it expires, a fee corresponding to the price for eight days of travel is charged. Example: You want to be refunded for a senior card which has 15 days left on it You will receive a refund corresponding to 15 days - 8 days = 7 days.
If you want to have your Pensionsitkort (senior card) refunded before its first day of validity, the price is refunded in full.

Exceptions to refunds
Pensionistkort (senior cards) cannot be refunded if:
- A replacement card has been issued.
- The Pensionistkort (senior card) is so badly damaged that the photo ID card number and validity period are unclear/illegible.

Rules for refunds
If you would like your Youth card to be refunded after 1 February, please call Midttrafik Customer Service on tel. 70 210 230 and provide your Danish personal ID (CPR no.), name and address.
Please note, however, that there are special rules for refunds if you have been sent home by your school/college due to coronavirus/COVID-19.
We can refund your card from the day on which you call us at the earliest. Normally, issuing a refund costs a fee corresponding to the price for eight days.
The refund will be paid to your NemKonto if you are 18+ years old. If you are below the age of 18, the refund will be credited to one of your parents’ NemKonto accounts.
Before we refund the money to your NemKonto, we will collect your Danish personal ID (CPR no.) from the CPR register. We will not disclose your CPR number to any other party.
As a registree, you are always entitled to access the information we hold about you, and to have it rectified if it proves to be incorrect, cf. the Danish Act on the Processing of Personal Data (Persondataloven), Chapters 9 and 10.
Refund of Youth card due to long-term service interruptions
In the event of long-term service interruptions, your Youth card can be refunded as follows:
- The service interruptions have to last at least seven consecutive days.
- Your Youth card must be valid for at least seven of the days affected by service interruptions.
- Any refunds will be based on the number of days affected by service interruptions.
- Any refunds will be based on the number of routes affected by the service interruptions.
- Your claim for a refund must amount to min. 25% of the price of the cheapest transit ticket for adults.
- The claim can only be submitted once the Youth card has expired. It must be submitted in writing within six months of the expiry date of the Youth card.
In special cases, Midttrafik can set out specific rules for refunds.
If you lose your school season ticket, you must ask your school to order a replacement ticket from Midttrafik. Your school is entitled to charge a fee of DKK 50 for a replacement ticket.
Your school must send a lifelike passport photo of you, and provide the photo ID card number for the old ticket.
You must buy ordinary tickets or multi-trip tickets until you receive your replacement ticket. These tickets or multi-trip tickets are not refundable.
If you lose your school season ticket, you must ask your school to order a replacement ticket from Midttrafik. Your school is entitled to charge a fee of DKK 50 for a replacement ticket.
Your school must send a lifelike passport photo of you, and provide the photo ID card number for the old ticket.
You must buy ordinary tickets or multi-trip tickets until you receive your replacement ticket. These tickets or multi-trip tickets are not refundable.
Unused trips were refundable up until 15 August 2019. Since then it has not been possible to obtain a refund.
